The Great Fight to Win the Vote, a Book Talk & Signing
Elaine Weiss is an award-winning journalist and writer whose work has appeared in The Atlantic, Harper’s, The New York Times, and The Christian Science Monitor, as well as in reports and documentaries for NPR and Voice of America. Her book, The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote, follows a handful of remarkable women who led their respective forces into a great political battle and finally won the right to vote.
2021 is the 101st anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution. (Unfortunately, plans to celebrate the 100th anniversary were derailed by the pandemic.)
Peoria Public Library, in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Greater Peoria, Peoria Historical Society, Peoria Riverfront Museum, Peoria Area World Affairs Council and the Dunlap Public Library District, are hosting author Elaine Weiss for a virtual Book Talk & book signing on June 8. Her talk is free and open to the public. There is a small fee to join the virtual Meet & Greet and book signing.
