Peoria Public Library is making this a musical May with three free concerts scheduled at Peoria Public Library North Branch, 3001 W. Grand Pkwy.
Sunday, May 22 — Music in the McKenzie: Goodnight Gracie
Our ongoing community concert series features this popular local quartet. Their play list reads like a juke box — a little bit of everything.
Free and open to all ages. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at North Branch.
Monday, May 23 — Adam Larson Trio
We’re particularly excited to welcome back the Adam Larson trio. Frontman Adam, who grew up in Normal, is a well-known and respected jazz saxophonist, but also a composer and author. He comes back every so often from touring the U.S., and we’re very lucky to have him.
There’s so much to unravel with him – his books on jazz are sold in over 30 countries; he has a popular online masterclass; he’s a teaching artist at Lincoln Center’s ‘Let Freedom Swing’ program and the IMEA commissioned him to compose the All-State composition for the 2020 convention.
Take advantage of an opportunity to hear them play in person — for free — at 6:30 p.m., May 23 at North Branch.
Wednesday, May 25 — Water Street Stompers
Continuing the jazz theme, we welcome local band, the Water Street Stompers. They’ll bring the spirit of Mardi Gras to the library with their traditional New Orleans jazz. Led by Todd Kelly, the group includes Harlan Geiser on trombone, Doug Stewart on sax, Carl Bopp on piano, Jason Shea on bass and Jeremy Clark on drums.
Free and open to all. Music begins at 6 p.m., May 25 at North Branch.
