Outreach Services

The Outreach Department provides non-traditional library services – beyond the brick and mortar!

Home Delivery

If you can’t come to us, let us bring our library to you! Peoria Public Library offers a special home delivery service to those who either on a permanent or temporary basis are incapable of visiting one of our five locations. We will work to find titles just for you and deliver them to your home on a monthly basis. This is a free service open only to Peoria residents.

New parents are also invited to take advantage of home delivery for your entire family for up to one year.

Please call us at (309) 497-2068 or email outreachteam@ppl.peoria.lib.il.us for more information or to apply.

Peoria Public Library's Home Delivery Service is for anyone who cannot visit the library in person be it due to illness, disability or other mobility issues.

Monthly deliveries of library materials -- books, movies, magazines, etc. -- will be delivered directly to your door on either a temporary or permanent basis, depending on your situation.

Senior Services

Our Outreach staff bring a rotating supply of books to several area senior living facilities and nursing homes throughout Peoria. These mini collections of Large Print titles contain all genres and are available for 90 days for the residents’ use. One of our librarians also makes monthly visits (except for December) to eight memory care facilities, bringing music, crafts and books for the residents.

Talking Books for the Blind and Physically Handicapped

Anyone unable to read standard print material due to a permanent or temporary visual or physical disability is eligible to receive free talking books or braille materials, including the necessary equipment (shipped for free) through this program offered by the Illinois State Library. Open to all ages. Our staff can help you with the state’s application process as well as help you choose from more than 150,000 book and magazine titles.
