Did you know that Batman turned 82 years old in 2021? Help celebrate the Caped Crusader's 82nd year by celebrating at Lakeview Branch, 1137 W. Lake Ave. We have activities for all ages. You'll have the opportunity to take your picture with some of Batman's friends and foes. Kids can help the World's Greatest Detective solve the Riddler's riddles by finding all the villains that escaped Arkham Asylum. Adults can vote on the best onscreen Batman!

Peoria Public Library and the Peoria Humane Society have partnered to bring award-winning artist and author Donna Carr Roberts back to Peoria this September with her latest book! Donna, a former artist in residence at Bradley University, started her children's book series -- Mr. Fuzzy Ears -- using her own dogs as inspiration. The characters in her book are taken from the real-life adventures of her four dogs....Izzy, Scamp, Teddy, and Sofie. Peoria Public Library's McClure Branch will host two Sign and Sing Storytimes this month with Communication Junction. These storytimes are geared to children 0 to 5 and feature stories, songs, movement and bubbles. You will also learn some signs so you can communicate better with your baby. Free and open to all. August 10th and 24th from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Feel free to bring your own blanket and snacks.

Pottery Painting!

Peoria Public Library's McClure Branch, with help from local experts at Fired Up!,  will host pottery painting in the park for the entire family this Aug. 7 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please dress for a mess. Supplies are limited so registration is required by calling (309) 497-2700 or emailing   Free and open to all. We have a variety of meeting spaces available for your club across five locations in Peoria. Due to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, several of our book clubs are starting to meet in person again or offering hybrid meetings (in person and Zoom options.)

The Lakeview Ledger Do you like to write? Do you think you'd like to learn more about how newspapers are put together? The Lakeview Ledger is an entirely kid-created newspaper facilitated by Peoria Public Library and paid for by the Friends of Peoria Public Library. The youth in the community wanted a newspaper where they had creative license to put the things they wanted into their own newspaper. Creating content, coming up with a name for the newspaper, editing, and working together on the layout were all done by the kids involved in the Newspaper Club at Lakeview Branch. [...]

Peoria Public Library's Friendly Finds Bookstore is OPEN! After than a year of being shuttered due to COVID-19, our Friendly Finds Bookstore in Lower Level 2 of Main Library has reopened. Staffed by volunteers and members of Friends of Peoria Public Library, all proceeds are 100 percent invested back into the library and its programs. More than 10,000 books, audiobooks, graphic novels, CDs and DVDs are available for purchase. Most items are $1 or less.
