Peoria Public Library Becomes a FamilySearch Affiliate Library
Peoria Public Library is now a FamilySearch affiliate library – one of only a few hundred in the U.S.
With this designation, patrons in our Local History and Genealogy Department will now have greater and more convenient access to the wealth of genealogical resources available through FamilySearch.
The popular web service has over 6 billion searchable names and 2 billion images of historical genealogical records — and you get the helpful assistance of Peoria Public Library’s knowledgeable staff.
This special access is only available at Peoria Public Main Library’s Local History & Genealogy Department, 107 NE Monroe, lower level 1. Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
FamilySearch adds over 300 million free genealogical records and images online yearly from all over the world and manages the famous Family History Library in Salt Lake City. It has amassed billions of birth, marriage, death, census, land and court records from more than 130 countries.
In addition to FamilySearch, Peoria Public Library also subscribes to other genealogy resources, including Ancestry.com and HeritageQuest Online. Our Local History and Genealogy Department is also the repository of thousands of historical documents, which our knowledgeable staff can use to help patrons find their family’s roots.
